Soles: insoles.-In order to save leather a sole or insole blank is cut out to a dimension less than that requisite in the finished shoe, and its area is then increased by local stretching and moulding. The shank portion of the sole is stretched lengthwise and is also stretched and moulded transversely to give a transverse curvature and to stretch and thin the margins, as shown.
