The leads 28, Figs. 1 and 2, which are supported on two holders 8, 8<1>, mounted on a movable slide 5, and adjustable as regards their distance apart, are delivered to the galley by catches 37 on a vertically moving leading-plate 24, the catches retreating into the leading-plate during the upward movement. The catches are carried by a spring-pressed pivoted member 35, having an adjusting-screw 38. The plate 24 is actuated by the vertically moving galley-screen 43. The slide 5 is clamped by a set-screw 6 in guides in a frame 1, secured to the composing-machine, so that it can be retracted to give access to the line-channel. The lend-holder 8 is mounted in a groove in the slide 5, and is adjustably connected to the holder 8<1> by a slotted extension 17 and a bolt 20. The holder 8<1> is supported by screws 22 passing through slots in a bar 16, which can move in guides 15 on the slide 5. A screw 10, having a knob 11, enables the distance of the ends of the holders from the plate 24 to be adjusted. The plate 24 is guided on strips 23, 23<1>, carried on the slide 5 and bar 16 respectively, by means of lugs 25, one of which is adjustable. Guides 50, 51 for the leads are formed on the plate 24. A hook 33 on the plunger 29 is adapted to engage a notch 34, in order to hold the plunger in retracted position. A stopplate 40 prevents the leads from being lifted during the upward movement of the leading-plate.
