Electromagnets. - The armature 3 of an electromagnet is adjustably connected to a hinged piece 6 controlled by a spring 7, so that the tension of the spring can be varied. The adjustment can be made by means of a screw 4 passing through a slot in the piece 6. The spring 7 is a blade spring secured to the yoke 2 of the magnet and passing through a slot in the piece 6.
