Abstract

256,836. Gregory, A. W. Nov. 30, 1925. Treating ores to remove undesired constituents.-Titanium ores or products containing iron are heated with carbon and barium suiphate, with or without a small proportion of an alkaline salt, such as sodium carbonate. The product is leached with water to remove barium hydrate and sulphide, and the residue is then treated with an acid, such as dilute hydrochloric or sulphuric acid to remove the iron sulphide.
