Abstract

Razors and shavers.-A device for cutting hair using a safety razor blade 1 in conjunction with an ordinary comb 12 comprises a bent sheetmetal member 6 embracing the back of the comb and provided with tongues 7 under which a bladecarrier plate 5 is adapted to slide, to adjust the distance of the blade-edge from the ends of the comb teeth. The parts are secured in adjusted position by a clamping screw 8. Plate 5 is cut away at 13<x> and has lugs 4 in which is journaled a spindle 3 carrying a split blade holder 2 in which the blade 1 is frictionally gripped. A spring 16 is provided, urging the blade holder to the right, Fig. 1. The ends of the blade are retained between tongues 14, 15 on plate 5, the tongue 15 at the right being shorter than that at the left. To remove the blade, the holder 2 is moved to the left against the spring 16 until the blade end is clear of the right-hand tongue 15. The blade is then raised above that tongue and the holder is then allowed to move to the right, disengaging the other end of the blade from the left-hand tongue 15. The holder is then rotated to move the blade away from the comb so that it may be readily removed.
