Abstract

375,720. Holders for safety-razor blades. BUTTERFIELD, H., Highroad Well Post Office, Halifax, Yorkshire. Jan. 16, 1932, No. 1341. [Class 30.] A holder for stropping safety-razor blades comprises two interlocking blade-clamping plates A, B, secured to a handle J by the gripping engagement of a convex side of one of the plates in a rectangular split spring clip L retained in the handle by a ferrule N. One plate carries one or more pins F passing through apertures, or a slot, in the blade and in the other plate. The blade may be clamped by a nut F or the plates may be hinged together at their outer ends and clamped by the clip L. One or both plates have a convex outer surface to lie on a concave glass hone R and one plate has a lip E which may be pulled against a flange P on the hone to separate the handle and holder. In the hinged form the plates are longer to enable both sides of the blade to be sharpened. The Provisional Specification states also that the holder may be used as a knife.
