Abstract

252,666. Perfect Window Regulator Corporation, (Assignees of Goldsmith, B. J., and Koeb, E.). May 28, 1925, [Convention date]. Vehicle-window opening and closing apparatus. -The window panel is overbalanced by the spiral spring 22 and lever 18 engaging the bottom sash and is adapted to be stopped in any position by a hand-controlled pawl 26 engaging the ratchet teeth 28 on the lever. To prevent the window rising too rapidly, a second pawl 36 is actuated by the pawl 26 to engage widely-spaced teeth 42 and to stop the movement of the lever intermittently. Both pawls are acted on by a spring 40 tending to withdraw the pawl 36 and to press the pawl 26 into engagement with its ratchet. The pawls are preferably so designed that in an intermediate position neither pawl engages a ratchet.
