Abstract

250,408. Cann, T. E. May 14, 1925. Sole-laying.-In a sole-laying press the base 1 which carries the resilient sole support 12 is provided with a removable heel piece 4 so that the press may be used for laying whole or half soles. The support 12 is, preferably, of sponge rubber, and may be in two pieces as shown. The heel piece 4 has a rear supporting lug 8 and two forward lugs 7. When the apparatus is provided in duplicate the outer lugs 7 may engage holes in the base plate to keep the heel piece in place. A jack member 16 is provided with a socket 28 to engage a spigot on a jack stand (not shown) for use when inserting the jack into the shoe. The mounting for the thrust screw 25 is adjustable lengthwise of the shoe. Specification 211,704 is referred to.
