240,278. Pochin, F. H., Pochin, H. S., and Jones, P. B. L. Aug. 27, 1924. Lasts.-A last consists of a fore-part, an expansible heel part, and a separate sole plate to be engaged with the fore-part. The heel part comprises members C, D pressed apart by springs H on rods e, f secured to the member c and engaging slots in the member D. The sole plate J has a rib L engaging slots in depending parts of the fore-part, and the rib is provided with a shoulder M to prevent rearward displacement of the plate. A step B on the fore part A engages the member D. Each last will fit several lengths of shoe. Interchangeable sole plates of different widths are provided for each last. Specification 166,454 is referred to.
