Abstract

Last-supports for hand work.-In a hobbing-iron stand, the lower portion of the supporting base a is formed with an internal recess or ledge adapted to retain one or more springs b, and the last or foot carrying socket c is furnished with an upper external flange or collar c<2> and with means whereby the spring or springs can be compressed to cause the flange or collar to be pressed sufficiently hard against the upper face of the supporting base to hold the foot firmly in use. A plate d engages the lower end of the spring b and is connected by bolts e to the socket c. Tongues f are carried by the socket c and adapted to hold elastic bands or the like passing over the shoe to hold it to the foot. The Provisional Specification describes a support for the toe end of the last carried by the socket c.
