Abstract

256,815. Hipperson, V. E., and Sexton, Son & Everard, Ltd. Oct. 2, 1925. Heels, machines for.-An apparatus for cramping heels to soles of boots or shoes, while the adhesive by means of which they are fixed is allowed to set, has three swivelling jaws, two arranged on stationary supports and the third on a support adjustably movable in relation to the others, so that the lines of pressure exercised by the three jaws intersect each other at approximately equal angles. The jaw 3 carries a last pin 3<a> and is self-adjusting about a fixed pivot 2<a>. The jaw 5 is similarly self-adjusting about a fixed pivot 4<a>, is faced with substantial soft resilient padding to adapt it to the rear of the heel and last. The movable jaw comprises a rubber block 6<a> shaped to engage the front of the heel and the sole and pivoted to links 7 adjustably connected to a hand lever 8 provided with a pawl 9 co-operating with fixed teeth 4<b> to lock the movable jaw in position.
