Abstract

250,228. Neighbour, A. G. L. April 6, 1925, [Convention date]. Magneto - electric machines. - A magneto-electric machine in which the housing is adapted for base or side attachment has its magnetic and electrical elements and all its operative parts mounted in or upon a structure supported by 'the housing and angularly adjustable therein for timing purposes. As shown, the housing 5 supports a sleeve 10 which carries the permanent magnets 15, pole-shoes 14, armature 17, contact-breaker 27, 28 and distributor 20, 21, the whole of this structure being angularly adjustable in the housing and readily detachable therefrom. The sleeve and housing may be formed as castings, the housing being provided with attachment lugs or flanges 6, 7, 8, the sleeve being detachably secured by end-plates 12, 13. The housing is provided with inturned flanges 9 against which rings 18 on the sleeve can bear. The sleeve is shouldered and enlarged at 19 to receive and support the distributor and contact-breaker elements when spur gearing is employed, and has an inclined extension 19<a> when employing bevel gearing.
