Abstract
249,903. Lees, J. E. Dec. 1, 1924. Rollers and roller heads.-A roller 10 is mounted so as to exert pressure by its own weight or by the additional weight imparted by an applied weight or spring upon sleeves 18, 19, which are freely mounted upon axles 17 so that the weight of the axle is not transmitted thereto and constitute the upper rollers of sliver-drawing apparatus, or upon the barrels of axially aligned rollers, thereby ensuring their common rotation. The roller 10 may be plain, covered or fluted, and it may be adapted to bear on four sleeves or four barrels disposed in two groups of two in axial alignment. The sleeves 18, 19 or rollers may be plain, covered or fluted, and may be connected with the central boss 171 of the axle 17 by a sleeve 20 of flexible leather and by springs as described in Specification 199,418.
