Abstract

304,098. Pflimlin, J. May 29, 1928. Addition to 266,317. Rollers.-In the arrangement described in the parent Specification, wherein the upper intermediate roller of the drawing-rollers of spinning and preparing machinery is formed of material, for example sponge rubber, pure Para rubber, or compressible felt, of such elasticity and suppleness that it is flattened to embrace a relatively large arc of the lower roller by reason of its own weight assisted if necessary by additional weights, the roller or sleeve, instead of being solid, is formed with interior grooves or hollows, for example as shown in Figs. 1, 6 and 9 wherein a circumferential portion a is joined to a hub portion c by arms b, or as shown in Figs. 11 and 15 wherein a sleeve d increases in thickness towards the centre or is provided with stays f. The forms are such as to produce a sleeve with the suppleness of sponge rubber whilst maintaining a substantially uniform compressibility about its whole circumference and throughout its length.
