Abstract

657,559. Drawing rolls for spinning frames. COURTNEY, E. J. April 6, 1948, No. 9603. Convention date April 19, 1947. [Class 120(ii)] [Also in Group VIII] A drawing roll assembly comprises, a main sleeve 8, a shorter spacing sleeve 9, secured substantially central therein, a pair of ball bearings A adapted to receive a shaft 7, said shaft having a pair of collars 11, 11, secured to it by set screws 15, each collar being adapted to bear against the outer end faces of the inner races 14 of the respective ball bearings, the inner faces of the outer races 12 being adapted to abut against the respective ends of the spacing sleeve 9 such that when the inner races are positioned by the collars 11, the outer races 12 run free of the collars; and a ring-like cover 10 fitting around and carried by the main sleeve 8. The outer cover 10 may be in two parts i.e. a sleeve 10b of plastic material which can be cemented to the sleeve 8 and an outer ring 10a composed of rubber or other tough resilient material and vulcanized to the sleeve 10b.
