248,750. British Enka Arificial Silk Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Naamlooze Vennootschap Nederlandsche Kunstzijdefabriek). March 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Cellulose xanthates, processes for making filaments and other articles from.-In the manufacture of filaments, ribbons, straw, &c. from viscose, there is added to the acid precipitating-bath a salt of nickel and cobait. Sulphates are instanced as suitable salts; and a precipitating-bath whose composition is given by way of an example, contains sulphuric acid, sodium, magnesium and nickel sulphates. An addition of a zinc or other salt such as is commonly employed, may be made to the precipitating-bath provided it contains another metal salt as defined above. Using precipitating-baths containing the above additions, the dyeing properties of the products are improved both as regards affinity and evenness. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers to the addition of a salt of any bivalent metal, other than zinc, whose sulphide is not precipitated in the presence of acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
