Jib cranes.-To ensure horizontal travel of the load in luffing, the load rope is led from the winding drum e over a fixed sheave d, and over a movable sheave c carried at the common pivot of links f, g, which are pivoted to the tail of the jib at i and to the stationary structure at h respectively, the sheave c being to the rear of the jib pivot in all positions of the jib. As the jib moves from b to b', the sheave c moves to c', and a suitable length of rope passes over the headsheave. The link g carries a counterweight k<1> and the tail of the jib carries a counterweight k.
