Abstract

Dec. 20, 1924, Ventilating conduits, passages, and pipes, arrangements and adaptations of; valve apparatus, actuating. - Ventilating apparatus comprises a rotatable drum to which air under pressure is supplied, the drum having a number of deflecting plates or nozzles mounted on its periphery and so arranged that rotation of the drum is caused by the reaction of the air against the plates or nozzles, means being provided for adjusting the plates and nozzles whereby the speed of rotation of the drum can be varied for a given rate of flow of air. A rotatable drum A, provided with openings M and rotatable nozzles N, is supported on ball bearings B adjustably mounted on a hollow vertical spindle C carried by a cross bar D in a tube E mounted on an air trunk. The quantity of air supplied to the drum can be controlled by a valve I carrying a curved deflecting plate R and actuated by a rod J and knob L. Vanes P are fitted above a cone 0 inside the tube E so as to guide the air towards the openings M, whilst a deflecting hood H is slidably mounted upon the outside of the tube E.
