Abstract

795,367. Spray-producers. ETABLISSEMENTS POMPES GUINARD. Feb. 17, 1956, No. 5065/56. Class 69 (3). [Also in Group XXXIV] A device for washing the inner faces of a closed tank &c. comprises reaction jet nozzles 1, 1<SP>1</SP> which extend laterally from a feed tube 2 and rotate therewith about a horizontal axis 13, and a gear wheel 14 secured to the tube 2 engages a gear wheel 15 fixed to a stationary bifurcated water feed pipe 6 so that the nozzles and tube rotate also about a vertical axis 16. The tube 2 is mounted in bearings 4, 5 in a tubular body 3 which rotates in bearings 7, 8 on the pipe 6. The ends of the tube 2 and body 3 are closed and water is delivered to the nozzles from the pipe 6 and via slots 12 and 11 in the tube and body respectively. A plug 9 integral with a pinion 27 closes the rear end of the tube 2 and, in operation, the pinion drives through a gear train 26, 25 and 24 a brake pump 17 comprising pinions 18, 19, an oil tank 32, and a control device for varying the braking effect. The pinion 18 is attached to a shaft 23 carrying the gear 24, and oil is drawn from the tank through an inlet 34 and is returned thereto through passages 35, 38, an orifice 37<SP>1</SP> and a passage 35<SP>1</SP>. A nozzle 36 contains the orifice 371 together with several differently sized orifices spaced circumferentially around it. Any one of those orifices may be brought into operation by loosening nuts 40, 41 and turning the nozzle stem 39.
