Abstract

247,546. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. Feb. 14, 1925, [Convention date]. Vapour engines.-In motor installation wherein motive fluids of different boiling points are used in different working-cylinders and wherein the heat of the exhaust fluid from one cylinder is used to generate the vapour operating in the next cylinder, means are provided for by-passing the first cylinder during a temporary stoppage of the plant and feeding live fluid direct to the generator for the second cylinder so as to produce highpressure vapour for starting-up in the second cylinder. Naphthalene vapour from a generator 2 passes by way of a valve 11 to a working-cylinder 3 and then to a heating-coil 4 in a generator 5 supplying vapour of lower pressure to a working- cylinder 6. On stopping the plant valve 11 is closed and a valve 12 opened so that the vapour from the high-pressure generator 2 passes through a reducing nozzle 10 direct to the low-pressure generator, the pressure of which is thereby increased for starting purposes.
