246,556. Dubilier Condenser Co. (1921), Ltd., (Nyman, A.). Oct. 27, 1924. Magnetic instruments. - A telehone receiver comprises a permanent magnet 3 having a central pole 6 and an annular pole 4 provided with an annular laminated pole piece 8 of silicon steel or other highly permeable material. Between these is a winding 7 traversed by a continuous current. The diaphragm 11 is fitted with an aluminium cap 10 and a " transformer" winding 9, traversed by speech currents, surrounds the cap 10 and is secured to the pole piece 8. Alternating currents are induced in the cap 10 by the currents in the winding 9 and cause the diaphragm 11 to vibrate.
