Clutches, free-wheel. - In a cycle free-wheel hub of the gravity-ball type, the balls outnumber the ratchet teeth on the sprocket ring in the ratio of three to two. A member M, screwed on the rear hub, has recesses L for nine clutch balls b, which can fall by gravity into engagement with six ratchet teeth on the driving-sprocket c on forward drive. The surfaces p, q of the sprocket are concentric with the hub. The sprocket carries loosely in pockets twelve bearing-balls r running in races on lateral rings B. B<1>, screwed on the member M by right and left hand threads. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the ring B has kev sockets and may have a hole for a lubricator, and that the corners of the clutch elements are rounded to assist disengagement. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
