550,667. Brakes and clutches. SWIFT, M., (Representative of SWIFT, R.), BURROWS, R. E. and CLARKE, W. Sept. 1, 1941, No. 11140. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A brake or clutch mechanism comprises a pair of intermeshing gears one of which is mounted freely upon an eccentric. The gear teeth have more top and bottom clearance than is usual. In operation the eccentric is turned by a lever or worm gear so as to force the meshing teeth into deeper mesh so that they become wholly or partially locked with one another. Specification 237,761, [Class 103 (i)], is referred to.
