Abstract

245,303. Miller, E. E. Feb. 23, 1925. Pistons; packing; attaching to rod.-A rubber or other flexible ring 19 of U-section is reinforced by rings 23 of hard rubber &c., in order to prevent creeping of the rubber between the cylinder and the piston heads. The piston consists of a head 13, mounted on a tapered part of the pistonrod, and forming an abutment for a head 16 secured by nuts 21, 22. Packing 25, 26 is preferably inserted between the piston heads and between the piston head 16 and the nut 21, respectively. The heads are formed with perforations 15, 18 and recesses 19' to permit access of the fluid to the back of the packing.
