Abstract

244,678. Schlayer, r. Aug. 12, 1925. Addition to 204,059. Thrashing-machines.-In a thrashing machine, as in the parent Specification, in which the material passes axially through a drum and is thrashed by rotating beaters and fixed abutments, the distances between the individual sets of beaters and their co-operating abutments can bo varied by making the stems of the beaters adjustable, or by mounting the abutments so as to be adjustable in a radial direction. As shown in Fig. 2, a section of the drum is hinged and is adjusted by means of a screw 11 to bring the abutments 8' nearer the beaters 7. In another form the abutments 8<5>, Fig. 5, pass through slots in the drum 11 on either side of strengthening ribs 82, and are secured by a bolt 8<53> to a clamp 81. The bolt 8" may be passed through holes 8<51> or 8<52>. The abutments, which have their forward edges serrated, may be inclined as shown, or the clamps may be arranged to hold them normal to the drum. In a further form, the abutments are mounted in rods which can be rocked, so as to project the abutments adjustably into the drum. The stems of the beaters may be formed in two parts adjustably secured together.
