Abstract

244,676. Stephens, A. J., (Vass, T. D.). Aug. 10, 1925. Locking nuts.-A nut 3 with an enlarged bore 5, is locked to a bolt 2 by means of an annular washer 6 with a non-threaded conical extension which is compressed on to the bolt when the nut is screwed down. The washer as a whole forms an unbroken annulus, but the conical extension may be corrugated or partially split to facilitate compression. The nut may be provided with radial ratchet teeth on its bearing face, and the disc portion 6 of the washer radially split and the split portions bent to act as pawls which resiliently engage the ratchet teeth on the nut.
