Abstract

244,520. Saunders, S. E. Sept. 17,1924. Hulls.-The hulls of high speed craft having hydroplane surfaces on the bottom have corrugations c formed on the bottom with stepped sections d, e comprising a substantially vertical portion j with horizontal portions k, l extending in opposite directions an upward inclined section m connecting the two horizontal sections. The plates forming the bottom are riveted or screwed together at o and are also similarly secured to stringers g which are themselves carried on transverse frames. The corrugations on opposite sides of the keel may be relatively staggered. The invention may be applied to the hulls of light craftt other than hydroplanes .and also to aircraft, and in particular to planes, rudders, tail planes and elevators.
