Abstract

243,959. Rodero, F. March 26, 1925. Stays. - Pivotally-mounted windows, doors, motor-car screens and other articles are secured in am adjusted position by a stay-bar 1 with a fixed pivotal connection at one end and with a half-nut 5 or toothed block at the other end for engagement with a screwed rod 8, which can be moved against a spring H about its pivot 9 to be freed from the nut when the window &c. is to be moved into a new position of adjustment. In a modification, the end of the bar 1 is pivoted to a toothed block which slides between guidebars on the window frame, the window being locked when one of these guide-bars is moved by a sliding action into engagement with the toothed block. As shown, the screwed rod 8 is depressed against its spring to release the window by means of a handle 14 with cams 18 engaging slidable members 16, one of which is connected by a cable 13<1> to the end of the rod. When the window is shut, catches P, P<2> engage in sockets P<1>, P<4> to hold it closed.
