Abstract

243,054. Cox, H. W. Aug. 19, 1924. Switches, quick-action are combined with fluid taps in such a manner that the switch is closed after the tap is turned on and the switch is opened before the tap is turned off. According to the invention the switch is of the type described in Specification 12976/14, comprising an actuating lever G pivoted at G' and connected by a dead-centre tension spring F to a movable contact member and the lever G is adapted to be pushed over from its one extreme position to the other either by a rod projecting from the tap spindle or by a disc L with a segmental gap L<1> mounted on the tap spindle. The spring F serves not only to bring about the quick action of the switch during any actuation but also to bring the arm G into a position to be engaged by the rod or by the gap L<1> when the tap is turned in the reverse direction. As shown in the Figure when the disc L is turned by the handle N in a counterclockwise direction, the spring F pulls the lever G into the gap L<1> and the lever G is then pushed over to the left by the disc L thereby closing the switch. Th disc L is preferably adjustably connected to the spindle J of the tap by a toothed clutch M, M<1> of which the member M is secured to the spindle and the member M' is secured to the disc L.
