Density separators.-Dust laden air is led tangentially into the casing b by the inlet a; the spiral plate c forces the dust downwards and the clean air passes out through the chimney g. The dust falls between vertical baffle plates d and can be removed from the casing though doors e. A cone f rests on the baffles d and assists in guiding the air. The inlet a is of considerable depth but its radial width is small.
