Abstract

240,689. Hucker, M. Jan. 5, 1925. Springs, arrangement of; frame construction.- In a spring suspension of perambulators &c. in which the body is supported on coiled compression springs, the compression of the springs is adjusted by means of a threaded member connected at one end to a tension spring anchored to a suitable fixture and carrying at its other end a nut adapted to engage an abutment or framepart through which the threaded member passes. The compression springs 4 are arranged between a pair of frames, which may be rectangular or consist of side-members 1 and diagonal members 2, and the adjusting devices comprise springs 5 anchored to the members 1 of one frame and connected to bolts 6 passing through the members 1 of the other frame, adjustment being effected by wing-nuts 7. A spring 4 or adjusting device may be arranged at the points of intersection of the members 2. The frames are secured to the axles 8 and the body or its supporting frame by bolts which may comprise the bolts securing the springs 4 to the frames. The frames may be dispensed with and the springs arranged between brackets on the body and undercarriage of a perambulator.
