Abstract

240,267. Smith, H. W. Aug. 5, 1924. Float-actuated valves. -Float feed apparatus for use with liquid fuel, water and other liquids comprises a float I working over an adjustable guide pin J and carrying a truncated conical pin H which co-operates with a conical orifice G in the flanged end F of a top-feed supply pipe A. This pipe is screwed externally and is provided with flat sides for adjustment and with locking nuts D<1>, D<2>. It may be screwed into the cover B in the case of a carburettor float chamber, or into a bracket if used in connection with a water tank. The flanged end F is below the cover or bracket. A drain plug M<1> or a tap M<2> is provided in the base of the chamber, a ventilating orifice O<1> in the top, an overflow orifice O<2> at the side and the outlet pipe is shown at N. Flooding in the case of a carburettor may be effected by a spring-loaded pin P adapted to depress the float. Specifications 4009/04, 20003/05, [both in Class 7, Air and gas engines]; 16410/13 and 152,206, [both in Class 7 (iii), Internal-combustion engines, Carburetting-apparatus &c. for], are referred to.
