Abstract

Spray carburettors.-The fuel nozzle 21 has its orifice 27 disposed in the aperture of an iris diaphragm 28 situated at the base of a Venturi tube 30 having perforations 43 in its wall for the admission of secondary air which is controlled by a valve 51. The secondary air may be drawn through the upper part of a humidifying chamber 34 to which water is admitted bv a float controlled valve 47 from a passage 45 forming part of the cooling system. The fuel nozzle 21 is provided with a conical base 20 pressed to its seat 19 by a spring 23 carried by a cap 22 secured by bayonet joints. The fuel is supplied from a chamber 14, located at its base to a fuel inlet 10, and provided either with a float, or with a constant level device comprising a U-shaped air inlet pipe 17 and an air tube 15 connected to the top of a vacuum lift or gravity fuel tank, the highest point of the oblique lower end of the tube 15 being situated at the desired fuel level.
