Abstract

358,041. Opentray burners. McKEAN, J. G., Westerhill, Mount Vernon, Lanarkshire, and JONES, R. F., 239, Auldhouse Road, Newlands, Glasgow. June 2, 1930, No. 16949. [Class 75 (i).] A liquid fuel burner comprises a cup formed of a baseplate 1 and a circular or rectangular side wall 2 supplied with fuel from an overhead tank through an upstanding nozzle 9 and with pressure air through a surrounding casing 3, the air ports 13 in the wall 2 being arranged to deliver below the level of the fuel in the cup. Additional air ports 14 may be provided delivering above the fuel level. The nozzle 9 is secured to the plate 1 and casing 3 by nuts 12 allowing of its adjustment vertically. The ports 13, 14 may be angled or inclined downwards and may be in the form of circular holes or narrow slots. The plate 1 may have an upturned flange 15 to prevent fuel overflowing into the chamber 7. The burner cup may be provided with an upward extension. A chamber having a float-controlled valve may be fitted on the fuel supply pipe 11, the level of the fuel in the chamber corresponding to the top of the nozzle 9.
