Abstract

239,132. Maher, T. April 1, 1925. Transformers, in order to overcome shrinkage, have their coils 1 clamped between plates 2, 3 by members 4, slotted at 8 to receive the ends of tension springs 6, the members 4 being in two parts 4a, 4<b>, of which 4b is bored to receive the reduced end 5 of 4<a>. By tightening the nuts 13, the required pressure is obtained and the parts can then be fixed to the plates by lock nuts 12 so that shrinkage is automatically compensated by the springs. The, plates 2, 3 may be strengthened by metal plates 10, 11 which have cuts to prevent eddy currents.
