Abstract

237,641. Gargano, V. Jan. 21, 1925. Moving-chamber appararus, controlling passage of air, and valve-systems for.-A cylindrical chamber 1 has a dome-shaped transparent front plate 1<b>, and integral with it a disc valve plate 1<a> having inlet and outlet valves 2, 3 corresponding with inlet and discharge pipes 7, 8. The chamber is rotatably mounted on the fixed cylindrical seating 5 by a screw-threaded ring 6, and through the aperture 5<a> in the seating there projects a handle 1<d> integral with the valve plate. When the outlet 3 registers with the outlet pipe 8 at discharge an air hole in the valve registers with a hole 4<c> in the fixed seating, and on filling the chamber, air from the chamber passes up the pipe 11. A rubber washer 9 having holes corresponding with holes 7, 8, and 4<c>, is placed between the valve plate 1<a> and the seating face. In the example shown, the chamber 1 is a driving fit into the disc valve 1<a>. Fixed-chamber apparatus.-In a modification the chamber is stationary and the valve plate is separate therefrom, the valve plate registering with holes in the seating and with corresponding holes in a plate forming the end of the measuring chamber.
