237,542. Maschinenfabrik R³ti, vorm. C. Honegger. July 22, 1924, [Convention date]. Shuttles, changing weft carriers in, automatically; shuttles.-To use tubular cops in shuttles in looms having automatic cop-changing mechanism, a sleeve or bobbin casing is pressed on to each cop comprising cylindrical portions 2, 3 and an intermediate conical portion 4 serving as a stop for the cop. The portion 2 is mounted on a metal cylinder 5 grooved to receive steel rings 6 or turned to form annular pads whereby the sleeve &c. may be held firmly in a shuttle. The portion 3 is corrugated to hold the cop firmly. The portions 3, 4 are divided by slots 7 into three or more springy tongues, which are held together radially and firmly against the cop by a clamp, which may comprise a cover 10 having a bent rim 8 and a central hole 9. The cover is placed over a flange formed by the outwardly-bent edges 11 of the tongues. The weft yarn passes through the hole 9. The rear end of one of the slots is enlarged to accommodate a feeler. The sleeve and cylinder 5 may be made from a piece of sheet metal.
