536,255. Unwinding yam &c. HOLDSWORTH, G. R. Oct. 3, 1939, No. 27072. [Class 120 (ii)] A mandrel for holding a cone of yarn or thread during unwinding has part of its surface consisting of a textile pile fabric with the pile fibres directed outwardly to engage the inner face of the cone and hold it in position, on the mandrel ; the fabric may be fitted in a longitudinal recess in the mandrel or as shown in a peripheral recess 5 and the pile may be straight or inclined. The fabric may be provided at more than one position on the mandrel.
