Abstract

970,515. Bobbins. I. CINIGLIO. April 10, 1963 [May 21, 1962], No. 14410/63. Heading B8M. [Also in Division D1] A cop sleeve 4 comprises weakening liner 6, e.g. small grooves extending longitudinally, over the portion 4a on which the cop 24 is wound and annular weakening lines or rings as at 8 between unweakened collars 7 and portion 4a. In use, the sleeve is releasably mounted on a carrier 5 between rings 10 and 11 which prevent deformation of collars 7, although permitting the zone between rings 8 to be conically deformed, as at 25, and the portion 4a to be squashed during shrinkage of the wound yarn or thread. A spring catch 20 is released from engagement with a groove 23 to enable removal of ring 11 and withdrawal of the partially deformed sleeve and the cop still seated thereon. If the carrier 5 is not employed, the collars may be supported or reinforced, as by holder rings of U-profile, Fig. 6 (not shown), clamped thereon.
