Abstract

1371457 Thread severing and fixing on bobbin mountings MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 6 Oct 1972 [22 Oct 1971] 46144/72 Heading D1J [Also in Division B8] A chuck sleeve 2 for mounting a bobbin tube 10 has a thread cutting ring 4 with circumferentially spaced cutting elements 12, detailed in Fig. 2 (not shown). A thread guiding ring 6 has a conical surface 11 which extends under the severing elements 12 to a thread clamping means. The thread clamping means is provided by a rubber ring 19. Alternative arrangements of the rubber ring are illustrated in Figs. 6, 7 (not shown) and 8. The ring 6 may slide to a stop 8 when the full bobbin is doffed to release the thread end. The ring 6 may alternatively be releasably fastened to the tube 10 and doffed therewith, Fig. 8. The ring 6 may have castellations to entrain thread onto an empty bobbin, Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown).
