Abstract

A traveller for ring-spinning comprises a ring-engaging part of one material receiving a replaceable yarn-engaging part of another material, the materials being chosen for their capability of withstanding wear in relation to the materials they engage. For a ring comprising a vertical member with a lower enlargement, (42, Fig. 2, not shown), the traveller comprises a plastics member (28) with a groove to receive a yarn-hook of steel &c. which is shaped to extend over the upper part of the ring. The member (28) is shaped to be retained on the enlargement when the hook fails through wear. For a ring comprising a horizontal flange, Fig. 8, not show, the ring-engaging member is shaped to conform with the curved inner edge of the ring, and the yarn-engaging member is a hook which extends over, but does not engage, the other part. In Fig. 2, the flange is of sintered material, and is shaped to accommodate a wick between it and the ring-holder, which communicates with an oil-reservoir by a channel in the holder.
