Abstract

523,119. Shuttle pegs; cop tubes. MONTIGNY, L. F. B. Dec. 23, 1938, No. 37452. [Classes 120 (iii) and 142 (iii)] In a shuttle peg having elastic means permitting easy engagement of a cop tube but resisting an axial effort tending to remove the tube, a flexible annulus is mounted in or on the head of the peg, the inner diameter of the annulus being less than the outer corresponding diameter of the cop tube. The head of the peg is formed by an outer socket 1 of steel or light alloy and an inner socket 2 of wood or light alloy between which is clamped a rubber annulus 4, the sockets being secured together and to the peg 5 by a cotter 6. In a modification the sockets are screwed together, the outer socket extending the whole length of the inner socket or covering only the end carrying the annulus. In other modifications the sockets are held together by a bayonet joint or by a spring ring engaging a groove in the inner socket and expanding into a groove in the outer socket.
