235,700. Spencer, Moulton, & Co., Ltd., G., and Brockbanks, J. G. May 26, 1924. Moulding wheel tyres.-Resilient tyres of the type having internal air cells or chambers vented to the atmosphere are formed by placing within a mould a number of partly cured spherical or other shaped rubber envelopes filled with water or other fluid together with rubber to form the body of the tyre, curing, allowing to cool, removing the tyre from the mould and forming small holes through the walls of the tyre into each envelope. Fig. 3 shows one form of tyre comprising spherical envelopes 2, suitably distributed and vented through small holes 5, grooves 4 being formed in the periphery of the tyre between the envelopes. Fig. 4 shows a modification comprising a string of elongated envelopes 2 having connecting-portions 6, but individually sealed.
