Non-metallic elastic bodies and cores; jackets and covers.-A tubular core 5<1> for use in a tyre cover in place of an ordinary air-tube is divided into compartments 6 with intercommunicating passages which are sealed after inflation (by a needle valve) and subsequent vulcanization. The core may be continuous or in sections, and mav be shaped to fill the tyre cover; or, as shown in Figs. 9 and 10, a continuous air-tube 12 fitted with an ordinary inflating-valve may be arranged between the tube 5' and the wheel rim 11. The partitions 7 may be reinforced with fabric or other stiffening-means, or additional partitions of such material may be fitted between the partitions 7. The tubular core may be built up from discs 15 and rings 14 of raw rubber, as indicated in Fig. 11.
