235,611. Boots Pure Drug Co., Ltd., and Barton, F. H. Feb. 20, 1924. Creasing. - Relates to machines for packeting powders and the like and of the type in which paper is continuously fed to a supply of power &c., and in which predetermined lengths are cut and adapted to be formed into packets. The paper is fed between upper plate members 2, 3 and lower members 4, 5, of which the rear members 2, 4 are stationary and the front members 3, 5 adapted for vertical reciprocation. During the downward movement of the parts 3, 5 knives 4, 7 sever a wrapper from the web, and a length is fed forward so that during the next upward movement a bar with a knife-edge 9 presses the web into a recess 8 and creases the paper transversely. The movements are caused by a cam 16, a recess 23 in which cause the cutting movement and two projections 24 cause two transverse creases. After a packet has been formed, longitudinal creases to define the end folds are formed by rollers 45 with ridges 45<a>.
