Abstract
235,594. Tavannes Watch Co. Soc. Anon. June 13, 1924, [Convention date]. Projectile fuzes. - Relates to clockwork fuzes wound up and set simultaneously by means of a key connected by a countershaft to the spindle of the power spring. According to the invention, the countershaft is made in two telescopic parts 5, 6, the outer part 6 carrying a pinion 9 in constant mesh with a pinion on the power spindle (not shown) and the inner part 5 slidably feathered into a pinion 8 in mesh with a pinion 7 on the aforesaid key (not shown). The part 5 is held in the extended position shown by a split spring ring 11, but sets back into the outer part 6 on discharge, thereby disconnecting the key from the clockwork mechanism, and leaving a clear space between the plates 2, 3 for the swing of the balance 1H. The set back of the part 5 also releases a centrifugal arm 14 provided with a finger 16, which, in the outward swing of the lever about its pivot 15, imparts an initial impulse to the balance 18. In a modification, the split spring ring 11 is situated above the pinion 8 and beneath a bridge secured to the plate 2: and the centrifugal arm 14 is omitted, the initial impetus being imparted to the balance 18 by a bevelled face of a notch in the part 5.
