Abstract

235,481. Joseph, J. Dec. 24, 1924. Helical springs. - Upholstery spring elements consist of a pair of coiled springs that are threaded one into the other, the inner spring being enveloped or surrounded by fabric or other suitable material to eliminate noise. As shown, the inner spring 2. which is of truncated conical form, is enveloped by a fabric 3 and is threaded into an outer spring 1 of the usual double conical form. In modifications, the inner spring may be of large diameter at its centre and taper towards the ends, its centre coil being of larger diameter than the centre coil of the outer spring, or the two springs may be of truncated conical form with the smaller end of each spring directed towards the larger end of the other spring.
