Abstract

205,438. Nesta, Ltd., and Jessup, J. G. April 9, 1923. Helical springs for upholstery, mattresses, and other spring seating surfaces of the kind in which the springs are provided with a tubular fabric covering, have the fabric covering woven separately and confined to the flat end rings of the spring, the intermediate coils being left uncovered. The covering 3, Fig. 1, may be of such a length as to be secured in place at one or both ends by clinching the end portion 4 around the wire at 5, as shown, or by adhesive. If desired, the covering may be threaded on to the wire before the latter is coiled into spring form by a mandrel 7, Fig. 2, of appropriate form.
