Abstract
234,370. Steel Nut & J. Hampton, Ltd., and Taylor, E. G. W. Nov. 3, 1924. Cramps.-In a floor cramp in which the bar 8 presses the floor board 9, the spring 15, for returning the bar to non-cramping position, is disposed in the axial line of the pressure-bar and is wholly or partly accommodated in a slot 8<c> formed in the bar. The cramp is positioned by gripping a joist between the pivoted toothed member 7 and the casting 5. The pressure-bar is moved tc operating and pressing position by a pawl 12 on a hand-rocked lever 10 engaging the rack 8<b>. A spring-pressed pawl or pawls 13 engage with the rack 8b to retain the pressure-bar in extended position but pressure of the hand or foot on the heel 13<b> raises the pawl and allows the bar 8 to be drawn back by the spring 15. On the back stroke of the lever 10 a stop 5e raises the pawl 12 and so prevents the lever from going too far back.
