Abstract

20,005. Burridge, W. J. Sept. 21. Cramps. - In floor cramps of the kind adapted to be gripped to a joist by means of a serrated cam-shaped gripping - member while the board is forced into position by a rack-bar engaged by a pinion provided with a pair of ratchet-wheels engaged by a pair of pawls carried by an operating- lever, improved retention means for the rackbar are provided.. The pinion B' integral with a pair of larger ratchetwheels B<3>, all mounted on' a pivot B<2> in a bracket A, engages the sliding rack B. The joist is gripped between serrated lugs on the bracket A and a cam-clamp F on a vertical pivot a<2> and operated by a handle F<1>. The lever C is forked and carries two pawls C', a releasing thumb-piece c' being provided thereon. The retention pawls D engage the ratchet-wheels and are controlled by a spring E and operated by a pedal D' on a pivot d, which also carries a roller E<1> and steadies the rack.
